What types of content can I check?

You can check text messages (SMS, WhatsApp, emails), URLs and links, screenshots of messages or websites, and QR codes. For screenshots and QR codes, upload an image file and our system will extract and analyse the text or URL automatically.

Is my content stored or used for AI training?

Accepted Answer

No. Content you submit for analysis is processed entirely in memory and immediately discarded when the analysis is complete. We never store, log, search, or train AI models on what you submit. Our AI provider (Anthropic) is contractually prohibited from using API inputs for training.

How accurate is the AI analysis?

ScamChecker is highly accurate for known scam patterns, phishing URLs, and common fraud types. However, AI is probabilistic — it can make mistakes. A LOW risk verdict does not guarantee content is safe, and a HIGH risk verdict does not guarantee it is a scam. Always apply your own judgement, especially before making financial decisions. We are constantly improving the model.

ScamChecker is trained to identify: phishing emails and websites, smishing (SMS scams), vishing scripts, fake invoices and payment requests, romance scams, tech support scams, lottery and prize scams, fake parcel delivery notices, investment fraud, impersonation of banks and government agencies, and more. If you encounter a new type of scam, contact us so we can improve detection.

What's included in the free plan?

The free plan includes 3 checks per day, basic risk verdicts (LOW / MEDIUM / HIGH), and safety advice for each check. No credit card is required. Free plan users do not need an account for basic checks — though creating an account lets you use your quota across devices.

How does the subscription work?

Paid plans are billed monthly. The Individual plan ($9.99/month) gives one person unlimited checks, full AI explanations, incident containment mode, and priority analysis speed. The Family plan ($19.99/month) covers up to 5 members with a shared dashboard. You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from your Account page.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your Account page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access until then. We also offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first payment.

ScamChecker works globally — it can analyse content in any language, and the AI understands scam patterns from around the world. Where relevant, we provide country-specific fraud reporting links (e.g. Action Fraud for the UK, FTC for the US, ACCC for Australia). If your country is missing, let us know and we'll add it.

How does the Family plan work?

The Family plan owner can invite up to 4 additional members via email. Each member gets their own account with unlimited checks. The owner can see a shared dashboard showing family-wide usage and recent checks (verdict levels only — content is never shared). This is ideal for protecting elderly relatives or family members less familiar with digital scams.

Is ScamChecker a replacement for antivirus software?

No. ScamChecker is complementary to antivirus software, not a replacement. Antivirus software monitors your device for malware. ScamChecker analyses specific content you paste or upload before you click or act on it. We recommend using both.

How do I report a bug or a false verdict?

Email us at support@scamschecker.co with 'False Verdict' in the subject line. Include a description of what you submitted and the verdict you received (but do not include sensitive personal information). Every report helps us improve the AI's accuracy.
